Still on Vashon Island...
Goodbye creepy teepee.
We will not miss you.
Hello comfy warm bed.
We're going to be WWOOFER's!
World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms began in 1971, with host farms that give room and board in exchange for work. Also known as Willing Workers on Organic Farms, WWOOF'ers are in 61 countries worldwide.
Our generous Landlord, Mr S, has been operating his self-sustaining smallholding, err, I think you call them hobby farms, as a WWOOF'er host farm for many years. Lucky for us he's used to having people come and stay, so he's offered us a bed in exchange for some work, though he knows that Jani is writing, so we're getting off a bit more lightly than his usual woofers.
Though I'm not sure that MPJ would call chopping and stacking the best part of a cord of wood in 30 degree heat (that's 86 in Fahrenheit) as getting off lightly! It was just too hot; I'm the one under the shady tree gently panting with my eyes closed, sitting out the heat thank you very much.
We finally had to agree to call it a day, drink down a jug of lemonade and then head over to Alan's for supper...
I'm with Jani,
we could live here.
Officially our favourite place, and this trip has only just begun!
These last 2 days have been filled with sunshine and friendship, beaches and shared meals suffused with great conversation. It's going to be ever so hard to leave. We depart via Seattle tomorrow to find our way back to the coast and continue wending our way down the road to LA...
I sure hope one of the Vashon Charities will get nominated for our Charity Drive, we DEFINITELY want to come back.
Come to think of it, we have the return drive to Vancouver beofre the Mooch Across America begins.
We are so coming back here.
This time, without the Creepy-Teepee.
